Planning a Dental Visit to Nepal: A Guide for Nepalese Abroad
Written by Dr. Aastha Khadka

If you are an NRN traveling to Nepal and hoping to squeeze in major dental work, planning is essential. Complex procedures like dental implants or orthodontics require specific timelines. Here is a guide on how to plan your visit with Hamro Multispecialty Dental Clinic in Bhaktapur.
Step 1: The Pre-Consultation
Do not wait until you land in Kathmandu to book your appointment. Contact us via WhatsApp 3-4 weeks before your trip. If you have an OPG (panoramic X-ray) from your local dentist abroad, send it to us. Our specialists will review it and give you an estimated timeline and cost.
Step 2: Understanding Timelines
Different procedures require different lengths of stay in Nepal:
- Routine Care (Fillings, Whitening, Scaling): Can be completed in a single 1-hour visit.
- Root Canals & Crowns: Usually requires 2 to 3 visits over a span of 5 to 7 days.
- Dental Implants: The titanium post placement takes one day. However, you will need to return 3-6 months later (perhaps on your next trip) to have the final permanent crown attached once the bone has healed.
Step 3: Quality Assurance
Many overseas patients worry about the quality of materials used in Nepal. At our clinic, we strictly use CE and FDA-approved dental materials. We provide warranties on implants and crowns, and we provide you with all documentation (implant passports/certificates) so your dentist abroad knows exactly what was placed.
