Top Tips for Maintaining Perfect Oral Hygiene at Home

Your daily habits play a much bigger role in your dental health than your dentist visits. At Hamro Multispecialty Dental Clinic, we always tell our patients that prevention is better than cure. Here are our top tips for maintaining a perfect smile at home.
1. Brush Twice a Day, But Do It Right
Brushing your teeth is the foundation of oral hygiene. However, rushing through it won't help. You must brush for a full two minutes, using a soft-bristled brush. Hold the brush at a 45-degree angle to your gums and use gentle, circular motions to remove plaque without damaging your enamel.
2. Don't Neglect Flossing
A toothbrush cannot reach the tight spaces between your teeth. Flossing once a day is critical to remove trapped food particles and plaque that lead to cavities and bad breath. If you find traditional flossing difficult, consider using interdental brushes or a water flosser.
3. Use Fluoride Toothpaste
Fluoride is a natural mineral that strengthens tooth enamel and makes it more resistant to decay. Ensure your toothpaste contains an adequate amount of fluoride. In areas of Nepal where tap water is not fluoridated, this is especially important.
4. Visit Us Every 6 Months
Even the best brushers miss spots. Professional teeth scaling and polishing at our clinic in Madhyapur Thimi will remove hardened tartar (calculus) that you cannot remove at home. Regular checkups also allow us to catch minor issues before they become painful emergencies.
